Aortic Aneurysm: Stress Analysis

The mechanisms of both aortic dissection and aneurysm remain poorly understood. The goal is to understand how the dissection develops and how the aneurysm forms, grows and ruptures.

These studies will help in eliminating fatalities which can occur due to untimely rupture of the aneurysm . To study the mechanism of development and rupture, we model the aorta and the growing aneurysm using a finite element analysis program and determine the mechanical stresses in the aortic wall.
