Root and Valve Prosthesis
In some patients with aneurysm of the ascending aorta the aortic
valve is relatively unaffected. The ascending aortic tubular grafts
available at present do not allow the proper preservation of the
natural aortic valve.
The
goal is to design a new aortic root prosthesis which will allow
the preservation of the normal geometry and function of the aortic
valve thereby increasing longevity of the valve. This research
has been expanded to include studies of homografts, Ross procedure,
stentless porcine valves and stress analysis of the aortic root.
