Vein Grafts

Vein grafts are the most commonly used substitutes for arterial bypass surgery, both in coronary artery disease and in the peripheral vascular disease. Almost 10 percent of the grafts, however, develop occlusive changes within 1 year.

The goal of this project is to investigate the dynamics of the vein valve and its possible relationship to graft occlusion. This research has been expanded to include studies on vein grafts having multiple valves and those used as sequential grafts.
